Oilfield Boiler Truck RFQ: Seasonal Feedwater Evidence

One convenient water sample may not represent a field campaign. Give the boiler supplier the evidence needed to assess actual feed conditions and treatment responsibilities.

Identify the sources the campaign will use

List proposed water sources and the periods when they may change. A purchase plan can involve stored water, a plant supply or deliveries from different providers. Ask the project team to identify the expected variability and available evidence. Do not assume that a general statement such as fresh water establishes suitability for the actual boiler arrangement and working conditions.

Keep sample context with the analysis

Retain source, collection context, relevant dates and the scope of the analysis. Ask the responsible water specialist which further information is necessary for the proposed use. An extensive laboratory sheet can still omit a relevant condition, while an old sample can describe a source no longer used. Mark the limits honestly rather than treat an unexplained analysis as a permanent guarantee of feed quality.

Request requirements for the offered boiler

The selected equipment provider should state its actual feedwater requirements and relevant restrictions. A once-through configuration and another steam or hot-water arrangement should not inherit one generic treatment plan merely because both are mobile. Keep the acceptance boundary clear: the available raw water and the required condition at the boiler inlet can be different responsibilities requiring specific treatment and monitoring scope.

Review the expected range, not only one sample

Ask the supplier to explain how its proposal addresses the accepted variability and which changes would require another assessment. This is a purchasing and engineering response, not a universal chemical-dosing instruction. The specialist and equipment provider must establish the actual treatment basis. A quoted softener or dosing package does not independently prove that every future water source will become suitable.

Clarify consumables and site work

Treatment may require resources, service, sampling provisions and handling arrangements beyond the delivered truck. Identify who supplies them and how the accepted feed condition will be verified. Keep the commercial scope tied to the actual arrangement rather than price a generic water-treatment label. If the purchaser provides conditioned water, record its obligation and the information the boiler integrator needs to accept the interface.

Define the response to a source change

The final documents should identify the water basis and the route for reviewing a material change. Preserve analysis, treatment information and relevant service observations with the asset. Do not assume that a different source is acceptable because the truck previously completed a campaign. Actual sampling, treatment, operation and maintenance require competent personnel and approved equipment-specific and project arrangements.

Keep water quantity separate from suitability

A sufficiently large tank or reliable delivery schedule does not establish acceptable feed chemistry, just as suitable water does not establish adequate continuous supply. Review both requirements on the same campaign basis without merging their evidence. The purchasing team should obtain representative analysis and a clear treatment responsibility while retaining the water balance and resupply assumptions in the wider equipment requirement.

Suggested wording for the quotation request

Review the attached water-source and seasonal evidence for the proposed oilfield boiler truck configuration. State feedwater requirements, missing analysis, accepted variability and treatment boundaries. Identify included equipment, site consumables, monitoring and purchaser obligations. Describe when a source change requires further assessment, keeping water quantity and quality commitments separate.

Evaluate the oilfield boiler truck as an identified mobile thermal package for the accepted medium, receiving conditions and working schedule. Keep useful output, simultaneous pressure and flow, fuel, water, auxiliaries and environment on one agreed basis. The selected boiler architecture, controls, instruments and chassis must match the actual offer. External distribution, receiving equipment and site acceptance require explicit responsibility boundaries. Component maxima or exterior photographs do not establish the complete delivered duty, universal compliance or a field-treatment result. Actual operation and maintenance require competent personnel, configuration-specific manufacturer information and approved project procedures.

For the wider equipment scope, consult the Oilfield OTSG Trucks: Feedwater and Steam Mass Balance. Use the RFQ checklist to collect the supporting documents before requesting a configuration-specific quotation.

Buyer questions

Does one water analysis prove every future campaign supply is suitable?

No. Review representativeness, expected variability and the selected equipment requirements.

Does a quoted softener guarantee complete feedwater suitability?

No. The actual analysis, provider limits and complete treatment and verification scope need review.
